West Coast Environmental Law has been working with communities along the controversial proposed Enbridge Pipeline and oil tanker route  to make sure that their views are fully considered in any government decision. The Enbridge pipeline is intended to bring tar sands oil to the BC’s Pacific North Coast to be loaded onto tankers.

Our 2011 report, Professionals and Climate Change, made the case that climate change fundamentally impacts the work and ethical obligations of many different types of professions, and that the professional associations that govern those professions need to recognize that.  In the report’s release I said:

Revelations on Sunday that Enbridge had actively, and successfully, lobbied the federal government to walk away from an agreement that was central to a decade long planning process with Coastal First Nations and the Province of BC do nothing to help the company’s embattled pipeline and tankers project, or its reputation with First Nations. 

All right, maybe Calgary is not a verb.  But if you’re among the 4000+ Canadians who have registered to make an oral presentation to the National Energy Board Joint Review Panel (JRP) that’s considering the controversial Enbridge Pipelines and Tankers Project, and you haven’t scheduled a time to be heard, then you’d better jump to it.  Calgarians who were registered to speak found out the hard way – if you snooze your public hearing gets cancelled.
