VANCOUVER, B.C. ─ A coalition of four environmental groups will hold a press conference on January 24, at 10:00 a.m. to announce the release of Financial Liability for Kinder Morgan, a report that examines the financial liability and insurance available in the case of a marine-based oil spill resulting from the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline and tanker route.

Instead, these changes are contained in a sweeping omnibus budget bill.

Vancouver - Environmental groups are once again applauding MPs who are taking the necessary steps to secure a permanent tanker ban on Canada’s Pacific North Coast. A Private Member’s Bill was tabled in the House of Commons today by Vancouver Quadra Liberal MP Joyce Murray, proposing a ban on crude oil tanker traffic in Hecate Strait, Dixon Entrance and Queen Charlotte Sound.

OTTAWA – A diverse delegation of British Columbians and First Nations travelled to Ottawa this week to meet with the Ministers responsible for formalizing a federal ban on oil tanker traffic on British Columbia’s north and central coast. The First Nations, community groups, labour organizations and environmental groups urged the Ministers to move quickly to introduce legislation to entrench a comprehensive oil tanker ban in law.

Law Students to compete in Canada-wide Social Media Contest

Vancouver.  West Coast Environmental Law today announced the teams selected to participate in its “World’s 2nd Twitter Moot” – a mock court case to be argued competitively over Twitter on November 20th.  The five teams selected have two students each from Thompson Rivers University (Kamloops), University of Alberta (Edmonton), York University (Toronto), University of Ottawa (Ottawa), and Dalhousie University (Halifax).
