Dean Rohman

Summer Community Outreach Coordinator

Dean Rohman (he/him/his) is a first-generation Bangladeshi-Canadian settler on the traditional and unceded territories of the Squamish, Musqueam, Coast-Salish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples. He was born and raised in Vancouver, and is currently entering his third year at the University of British Columbia, studying Political Science and History. As someone rooted in a nation that is disproportionately at risk to climate change (Bangladesh), Dean is interested in how legal frameworks can be used to help the most vulnerable peoples during ongoing, interconnected crises. Dean is passionate about climate law and climate policy, and is excited to combine his two passions of community building and climate policy in his role this year as West Coast’s Summer Community Outreach Coordinator.

As the Community Outreach Coordinator, Dean is working closely with the Communications team on various outreach opportunities this summer. He has extensive experience in community outreach efforts and event-planning, as a former Sustainability Ambassador (UBC), Youth Climate Innovation Lab Member (CityHive), and School Gardens Program Facilitator (SPEC and Fresh Roots).

Outside of work, Dean loves growing his own food, watching sunrises and sunsets and stargazing, and spending time with family and friends.
