Summary

In late October 2018, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans launched a brief study for Motion 154: Situation of Endangered Whales. This study focuses on identifying steps to protect and help the recovery of north atlantic right whales, beluga, and southern resident killer whales.

In West Coast’s submission, we outline the regulatory measures and tools that are available to the federal government to better protect the endangered southern resident killer whales, how these measures have not yet been used, and recommend actions that can be taken.
