West Coast Reacts: BC voters must vote for safer, climate-resilient communities

VANCOUVER, BC, Musqueam, Squamish & Tsleil-Waututh Territories – Jessica Clogg, West Coast Environmental Law’s Executive Director and Senior Counsel, made the following statement in response to Premier John Horgan’s announcement of an October 24th election:

“As the Province enters into an election in the midst of a global pandemic and economic crisis, we urge voters to turn their minds to the question of how BC will build back better in ways that protect both our communities and the environment going forward. Responding to climate change and building a sustainable, resilient economy are central to reducing BC’s vulnerability to future disasters – and should be a priority for all parties running in this election.”

“In these extraordinary times, West Coast Environmental Law encourages all eligible British Columbians to vote wisely and safely.”
