WHY IT MATTERS:
As the first in West Coast Environmental Law’s new “Dialogues for Legal Innovation Series", next week’s event will address one of the most pressing environmental challenges facing BC – how to achieve sustainable, renewable energy production. As evidenced by the range of participants, there are few issues that touch such a broad cross section of BC communities, businesses, NGOs and governments. Moving towards consensus on the policy and legal framework required to make it happen has proven challenging and divisive, but West Coast believes that a recently released set of common recommendations co-authored by West Coast and endorsed by 23 conservation groups can help bridge the divide. This Dialogue is part of that bridging process.
