Hanna Araza

Communications & Engagement Specialist

Hanna (she/her/hers) is the Communications and Engagement Specialist at West Coast Environmental Law. She is a first-generation immigrant settler who is grateful to live on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), and səl̓ilwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) territories.

Hanna graduated from Simon Fraser University where she studied Communications and Print & Digital Publishing. During her studies, she sought to channel her creativity and research savvy into her passion for sustainability and BIPOC-led social justice. Her past experiences include work done with Apathy is Boring, CCPA-BC's Corporate Mapping Project, Media Democracy Days, and the SFU Centre for Dialogue. Hanna sees communication and community engagement as vital tools for strengthening collective efficacy and co-creating sustainable, equitable futures.

Outside of work, Hanna enjoys travelling, making zines, and watching Bake-off. She is excited to join West Coast and advocate for inclusive environmental and climate justice, and having it enshrined in law.
