British Columbians are deeply concerned about climate change, and while they support clean electricity as part of the solution, many harbour concerns about how independent power projects (IPPs) are currently being developed. West Coast has co-authored a blueprint for improving the planning and development of renewable electricity and IPPs in BC, along with other environmental organizations. These recommendations set out a new, sustainable direction for renewable electricity development in BC aimed at protecting the environment, maximizing public benefit and participation, and creating a meaningful role for First Nations.

Recommendations for Responsible Clean Energy Development in British Columbia: six basic recommendations on the direction we think the BC government should take in clean electricity planning and development.

See our Press Release, on clean energy recommendations, December 17, 2009.

West Coast will host a public Dialogue Forum on Emerging Solutions for Clean Green Power on January 11, 2010 at the Morris J Wosk Centre for Dialogue - Asia Pacific Hall. Details here.
