Friends of Strathcona Park

A private tour company has applied for a permit to take tourists into Strathcona Park on horseback. The park master plan does not allow for horse tours within park boundaries. It is feared that horses would cause irreversible damage to the park ecosystem and effectively exclude the public from areas of the park in favour of a commercial interest. Friends of Strathcona Park received an EDRF grant to obtain a legal opinion outlining options to prevent the use of horses in Strathcona Park. Their goal is to prevent horse tours by commercial interests from being allowed within Strathcona Park.
