Environmental Mining Education Foundation

The provincial government has repeatedly failed to listen to the concerns of the public and First Nations in the Environmental Assessments process. The Environmental Mining Education Foundation received an EDRF grant to produce the Draft Best Mining Practices Code for First Nations. The Draft Best Practices Code for First Nations will be an important tool for future protection and engagement for First Nations in the provincial Environmental Assessment process. Their goal is to provide a resource of mining best practices from around the world that First Nations can refer to when they decide what rules they want incorporated into treaties, Impact Benefit Agreements, land use plans, land use codes, and other alternative dispute resolution processes
