Alexis Stoymenoff - Senior Communications & Engagement Specialist
Alexis came to West Coast Environmental Law in 2016, after working as a journalist and then as a communications coordinator in the environmental movement. Over the years, she has worked on various platforms – both on and offline – to help engage people and connect them with the knowledge and tools they need to create positive change.
As a reporter covering environmental issues and energy policy, Alexis developed a deep understanding of the key challenges faced by citizens in the pursuit of environmental and social justice. Moving from journalism to a role coordinating communications at the Wilderness Committee, she worked with campaigners, environmental allies and First Nations partners to strengthen conservation campaigns through strategic media relations, public education, online engagement and community outreach. She knows that meaningful action requires engaged and educated citizens, and she understands that the ways we engage around these issues are constantly shifting and evolving – especially in today’s digital world.
Alexis is dedicated to finding creative ways to get the word out about key environmental problems and what people can do to confront them, from fighting climate change to protecting habitat for species at risk. In her role as Senior Communications and Engagement Specialist, she is committed to sharing West Coast’s story and cultivating support for strong laws to protect our land, air, water and wildlife.
