Team Dalhousie

Team Dalhousie was represented by Michele Charles and Kristen Balcom from the Faculty of Law at the University of Dalhousie in Halifax. Thank you to Iler/Campbell for sponsoring Team Dalhousie.

Michele Charles grew up in the Beaches in Toronto and completed a BA in Classical Studies, Psychology and Environmental Studies at the University of Pennsylvania in 2008. Michele is currently a 2nd year student at Dalhousie Law and is in the Marine and Environmental Law Program. Michele has been active in the environmental field for many years and has worked with a variety of NGOs both on research as well as grass roots initiatives. Most recently Michele spent time in Botswana at a conservation reserve helping to manage the property. She loves spending time outdoors and loves skiing, hiking, camping and SCUBA diving.  Michele's Twitter username is @.

Kristen grew up in Vancouver, where she was fortunate to spend summers camping, kayaking, and hiking with her family. She studied biology at Queen's University before attending law school. Kristen developed an awareness about environmental issues while on exchange in France, where she experienced a culture that was constrained by resources as well as by area. Upon her return to Canada, she was inspired to live more sustainably, and developed an interest in environmental law. Follow Kristen on Twitter at @kristenbalcom.

Team Dalhousie represented First Coal Corporation in the moot.  Read their Factum (written argument), and watch their 1 minute video submission.
